Words of Hope

A journal kept for eighty years
started when she was nine

little accounts everyday
took us through the depression

and the world war
traveled with her from childhood to adult

Special reflections on each child born
details to fill each page about tree houses

and skinned knees
talks with god about sadness and loss

all these details tucked away
in a large black binder with yellowed pages

A favorite recipe, directions to the new home
some short stories and poetry

a perfect model for living life faithfully
with tidbits of simplicity.
