The ritual is simple
we've done it the same way for
years and years.
Open with prayer
then read last year's resolve
acknowledging our disappointments
and our accomplishments
both are set on fire burned to ash
Next we find a word in the dictionary
a quote from someone famous
and a biblical verse
a card drawn from the stack
of dream cards and whack packs
All of these are written down
finish with the resolutions
no more than six
put away 'till the end of the year
to start the ritual once again.
