Bright red and violet hues
contrast against azure skies;
a quick glance at buried shoes,
damp towels and sun burnt thighs.
Packing up the family van
watching a full moon rise,
feeling waves pound the sand
listening to the seagull's cries.
Daylight to darkness a passing of time
a new crew arrives upon the shore
young adults in their lusty prime
looking ahead for what's in store;
building fires to reach the stars,
embers glowing and bright sarongs,
strumming on acoustic guitars,
raucous laughter and evening songs.
