crowds pressed close to her...
Was she a Hollywood star, politician
or a notorious criminal?
When her movie career stalled she thought
of running for office to use her fame
to garner votes for an election
with the support of her political party
but since she couldn’t think on her feet
and needed scripts to sound articulate
decided a criminal path served the same purpose:
to keep her name in the headlines.
By breaking parole she stimulates media coverage
her image always in the public consciousness
so they know what she is doing
but can’t remember why they cared.
Have pity on fading starlets
who will do anything to keep their
face in the limelight.
