Birds dance to a mating ritual
like folkloric dancers with wings
they spread and sashay back and forth
attracting the attention of their intended
From peacocks to ostriches,
the steps are instinctual
for the male of their species,
strutting and puffing as appropriate
and when the dance is done
and a partner selected they’ve ensured
pogeney for another generation.
