Shy Turtle

She pulls her head back 

tries to hunch into her shell
to avoid prying eyes,

hiding from those who peer
into her private affairs

to cast judgement on her. 

If only her secrets

could be kept inside
never to be discovered

by the curious or cruel.

She would be happy
going about her life 

slowly and methodically
and live for 100 years.
